Abbeys Auctions win 2021 Resilience Award!

The Monash Business Association held the Annual Monash Business Awards gala event on zoom. Twenty three local businesses were shortlisted as finalists for awards in categories including Innovation & Technology, Health & Science, Micro Business, Transport & Trades, Not For Profit and Resilience.

Abbeys Auctions were announced the winners of the 2021 Resilience Award.

Amanda Brook (middle), CEO of Abbeys Group with Pinewood Community Bank’s Chairman, Robert Davies, & Branch Manager Indu Angammana.

Reflecting on the win, Amanda Brook, CEO of Abbeys Group said “I am very proud that Abbeys Auctions received the 2021 Resilience Award. The award was established to recognise how businesses like ours managed throughout COVID in 2020. This is very fitting when you consider that in 2020 the Auction was relocated from Box Hill and established at our new Auction Rooms at Burwood – all after the first lockdown had commenced”.

After an initial bumpy period (like most businesses at the start of COVID), the team settled into the new rhythm of running an online only auction, with contactless customer drop-offs and collections. The Executive Team gathered earlier this year to refresh their goals and are now pursuing a strategy of growth and diversification as we emerge out of the Pandemic into a new normal.

As at 4th October, Abbeys Auctions have traded for 532 days at the new Burwood rooms. 247, or 46% of which have been in lockdown and the rest have been under severe restrictions.

Our amazing team has sourced, delivered, prepared and presented more than 60,000 lots in 147 separate auctions. The despatch team has overseen the departure of 17,500 invoices, and packed and sent more than 2100 parcels (that’s a lot of tape!).

Every person at Abbeys Group contributed to this award, whether their role is working with clients and vendors in the field, transporting thousands of items, marketing, preparing and selling at auction or supporting and coordinating behind the scenes.

Amanda Brook concludes by saying “This is a perfect a time to stop and recognise the outstanding achievements of our truly resilient team, to say THANKS and congratulations!

Our thanks go to Monash Business Awards for this recognition and for hosting a virtual event despite all the challenges this pandemic has brought. Thank you to Community Bank Pinewood for presenting the award, and of course, congratulations to all the other award recipients.
