Buying at Auction is a great way to furnish your new home, or to find that special piece for your collection.
Abbeys Auctions holds sales every Friday with over 600 lots each session. Every 6 weeks a Special Auction is held featuring antiques, collectables and specialty items. Both private and commercial buyers are welcome from Melbourne and all over Victoria.
- Are you furnishing a new home on a budget?
- Looking for that special decorative item to give your room a unique look?
- Would you like to contribute to reducing waste and help protect our environment?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then you should consider buying at auction.
Make your budget stretch further
Every week at Abbeys Auctions we offer 1000’s of beautifully made, high quality pre-loved furniture and decorator items just waiting to find their way to your home. Typical auction prices for pre-loved furniture are a fraction of what you would expect to pay at a new retailer, so you can afford to get the things that you really love.
A clever & sustainable way to re-use quality furniture
Our furniture comes from a variety of places, including from clients who are redecorating, downsizing or relocating as well as from companies who are clearing excess stocks or display furniture.
Huge variety every week
The wide range of styles on offer means that there is sure to be something to suit every taste or decor plan. Every week we have a different selection, so if your perfect item is not in this week’s auction, you’ll only need to watch the catalogues for a few weeks and it will be sure to pop up.
Plan your purchases and buy with confidence
Abbeys Weekly Estate Auctions are available for online bidding with a catalogue and photos published 7-10 days prior to the auction.
Enjoy your new things straight away.
Purchases can be collected on the day of the sale or delivered to your door. No need to wait weeks for orders to be made, or spend hours making up flat pack budget furniture.
How to buy at Auction
Bidding and buying at auction is easy. Abbeys Auctions are open to the general public..
Register online here to obtain a bidding number that is valid for all auctions at Abbeys.
All lots are sold “as is” without warranty so it’s important that you inspect goods before bidding. Additional photos for detail are shown for each lot online. If you need more info just call us for a condition report or FaceTime video viewing whilst the catalogue is live (available for about 10 days prior to auction).
Note: In room viewing is not currently available.
Plan your bidding
As with any Public Auction, the actual price on the day will be determined by the bidders in the room so it often is helpful to have a plan of how much you are willing to pay before bidding. A Buyers Premium is added to your bid after the hammer falls, so be sure to factor that into your biding plan
There are several ways to bid;
online: place your maximum bids in advance or bid live – our bidding system works on mobile phones, computers and tablets
absentee: leave a written bid maximum by email or phone
phone: book a phone bid and we’ll call you just prior to your lot
in person: enjoy the excitement at our rooms
Note: In person bidding is not currently available. If you are unsure about how to bid our friendly team members will be happy to assist you.
Call us to finalise your account – at present all payments are contactless. We accept VISA and Mastercard or direct deposits to our account.
Arrange collection of your purchases within two business days of the auction. Contactless collection by appointment (Click and collect) and delivery service is available.
